Technology can be a distraction, a waste of time and mindless, OR it can hold unexpected blessings from God. OK… you say, ‘What do you mean?’. I am a HUGE fan of Proverbs 31 Ministries. They are holding a “She Conference”, and I entered to win a scholarship to attend at no cost. Participants entered through posting a comment on the blogs of all the P31 ladies (staff/speakers).
I unassumingly sat down at my computer, went to the first blog, and what happened next was a little surreal. As I started typing why I wanted to go and what I felt God laying on my heart to speak about some day, my heart started to race (in a good way, not the “call 911″ kind of way), and it was as if my fingers could not type fast enough. What was God doing? To me it was a small confirmation that God has placed on my heart the desire to speak to women, sharing His word and encouraging to many about how adoption is TRULY a blessing.
Thus, we started this blog. When I was applying for the scholarship, I got in the “zone” and start cutting and pasting away – my comment finding a place on every blog listed that was participating in the scholarship only to be brought back to reality when I turn around to tend to my oldest daughter who had gotten her sweet little hands on some cookie sprinkles and was depositing them all over the counter and floor!
Later that night came another blessing – an email from a woman I have never met, who had also adopted a little girl and who was participating in the scholarship contest. She had seen my comments and, following the prompting of God, sent me an email (or an “e-blessing” as I am calling it here). We have since been corresponding every other day sharing prayer requests, our adoption stories, and our heart to inspire other women in their walk with God. It brings me back to the days of pen pals – well, now I have an email pal!
My encouragement for you today is if there is a person who has been on your mind or if in a completely random moment you feel God prompting you to encourage someone, JUST DO IT (to borrow from Nike). As the person on the receiving end of the encouragement, words cannot express how it has affected my attitude, my walk with God and made me more aware of those divine promptings.
Hebrew 10:24 “Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.” (NLT)
My Prayer: Lord, open my eyes to see others needs. I will rely on your boldness to follow though with any promptings to share your love with those you bring in my path today. May I see outside myself and my circumstances to reach out, being your hands and feet to a world that needs your love.
