OK. So I apologize for the lack of a “real” post; my eldest daughter decided I did not need more than 3-4 hours sleep last night. But, I came across this at my favorite place of encouragement aside from God’s word (http://lysaterkeurst.com). Lysa Terkeurst is co-founder of Proverbs 31 Ministries (www.proverbs31.org) - an amazing organization, and I highly encourage you to support them any way you can. You can purchase some incredible materials/books through their website, and it all goes to support the ministry. Check out the links, say a little prayer for my sanity today, and if you are in the Raleigh area and notice a shortage of coffee, it’s because I’m drinking it all! LOL!

Another Encouraging Adoption Story!
August 30th, 2010New Movie: Like Dandelion Dust
August 27th, 2010Coming in September, “Like Dandelion Dust” is a deeply moving story of adoption, according to many reviewers. The basic plot is that an adoptive family is confronted with the biological parents of their little boy when the biological father is released from jail. It isn’t an easy, relaxing movie according to what we’ve seen of it. But, it may be what we all need to be reminded that adoption is not for the faint of heart – as is nearly all parenting!
Learn more about the move by visiting www.likedandeliondust.com or search for it on Google. Below is the YouTube trailer.

The Fellowship of Adoption
May 31st, 2010
So, over the last years as we’ve built our family through adoption, we’ve noticed several of our friends have decided to do the same thing. Whether it’s us inspiring each other, or just the fact that we love to hang out with other adoptive families, there’s definitely a fellowship that develops among adoptive families. We get to share not only parenting stories, but the real life stories of what it means on a daily basis to be adoptive families (and for some of us, multiracial families).
One friend posted this fun list on her facebook page that I think is great for adoptive families to read. It’s just one of the reminders of how similar our stories are – whether we adopt from other countries like Russia and Ethiopia, or here in the U.S.
The Adoption Need
May 9th, 2010
Over the last number of months, my wife and I have been reminded of the need for adoption. Recently at a fundraiser for a local crisis pregnancy center, abortion statistics were offered. In certain minority communities, over 3/4 of all pregnancies are ending in abortion. This is staggering when you think about it. Based on this statistic, it’s easy to see the crisis.
No matter how you feel about the options available to women in difficult situations, the thought that it would be so extensively used is hard to fathom. What drives a woman or a couple to make such a decision? How hard it must be to feel such loss of hope, such misery, such deep anguish. But, there is hope – and telling others in any way possible about adoption shares much of that hope.
