As a mother of a one and two year old I have seen and gotten frustrated at my fair share of scribbles. Fortunately we have avoided the crayon, permamanent marker, or any other writing utensil of you your choice on the walls. My journal on the other hand was their canvas of choice for a while. One morning while I was enjoying the blessed quietness of my house I opened up my jornal and saw some scribbles. Oddly enough, instead of a scowl appearing across my face and thinking ”NO, NOT IN MOMMY’S JOURNAL,” I smiled at the thought of the darling daughters that God has entrusted to me.
Daniel 3: 17-18 “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”
I don’t remember when this story really hit home with me, and I think I may have alluded to it in an earlier post but for the past several years the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego took on a very deep meaning for me. Now, this passage is somewhat familiar – Veggie Tales has done a hilarious rendering of it, and I even had a solo in a children’s production of this fiery story when I was 8. I still remember the words to the “rap” I did (oh yeah, we rapped in church), but I will spare you.
So, what stood out to me was the “even if.”
So, my hubby and I have been working through a bible reading plan that takes us through the bible in a year – and we are LOVING it. Especially doing it together has really “spurred us on” as the writer of Hebrews would say. I would encourage ANYONE to read through the bible in a year and get a buddy, spouse, or family member to go through it with you. We have found the tools on YouVersion very helpful. We installed on our blackberries (or “Rasberry” as I call mine since it’s pink).
OK – OFF THE RABBIT TRAIL! The point of that is that I have been reading through Hebrews as part of the reading plan. If you haven’t noticed the last two blog entries have been from Hebrews, and well, here is a third.
Hebrews 4:16 “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

Hebrews 2:13 “And again, ‘I will put my trust in him.’ And again, ‘Behold, I and the children God has given me.’”
Putting our trust in God is not just a one time thing or even a daily act, true trust is put into constant practice, chosen several times a day, hour or depending on the day maybe every minute. I find it fascinating that the writer of Hebrews mentions ‘I and the children God has given me’. As a mom of two darling daughters, I can honestly say before God brought them into our family there wasn’t as much at stake when we stepped out on faith.

Technology can be a distraction, a waste of time and mindless, OR it can hold unexpected blessings from God. OK… you say, ‘What do you mean?’. I am a HUGE fan of Proverbs 31 Ministries. They are holding a “She Conference”, and I entered to win a scholarship to attend at no cost. Participants entered through posting a comment on the blogs of all the P31 ladies (staff/speakers).
I unassumingly sat down at my computer, went to the first blog, and what happened next was a little surreal. As I started typing why I wanted to go and what I felt God laying on my heart to speak about some day, my heart started to race (in a good way, not the “call 911″ kind of way), and it was as if my fingers could not type fast enough. What was God doing? To me it was a small confirmation that God has placed on my heart the desire to speak to women, sharing His word and encouraging to many about how adoption is TRULY a blessing.
